Decorate and Display with Christmas Ornaments

As the holiday season approaches, you see the decorations, lights and Christmas ornaments. They seem to be in every store, and there are various shapes, colors and designs no matter where you turn. Whether you have a tree or not, there are some things that you can do decorate and display with Christmas ornaments in your home. You can also make them with your children.

The tree is the traditional place for ornaments. You can decorate it with one color, shades of the same color or multiple colors. If you have children, then they will probably like to see a wide range of ornaments. Let the children help decorate the tree so that they have memories of the holiday. If you have a large home where you can display more than one tree, then consider making each tree a different color. Another idea for ornaments is to place them on a fireplace shelf. If you don’t have a lot of room for a tree or you don’t have children, then this might be the easiest thing to do. You won’t have a lot of clutter to pack away, and you can still enjoy the holiday season with some festive décor.

Ornaments don’t have to hang anywhere. There are collectible ornaments, and there is something new each year if you like to keep the same theme. Examples include Precious Moments, Elvis and Disney. Don’t take these out of the box because it will decrease their value later on if you decide to sell them. These are the perfect treasures to give to your children and grandchildren. A plastic tote is the best place to keep collectibles, or you can place them in a curio cabinet to look at through the year.

One of the best things about the Christmas season is spending it with your children. To see more, click here. They can make ornaments out of a variety of materials. Most of them can be made with minimal support. An item that smells heavenly as it sits on the tree is a cinnamon applesauce ornament. Mix equal amounts of applesauce and white glue in a bowl. Add about two tablespoons of cinnamon. Pour the mixture on a wax paper, and let the mixture harden until you can use a cookie cutter in it. Cut shapes out of the applesauce, and place them in an oven on low heat to dry. Make sure you put a small hole in the top so that you can add ribbon when the ornament is done. Children can also make ornaments out of construction paper. This allows them to use their imagination by adding paint, sequins and other craft supplies.
